Manual Handling For Care Workers

The training course is designed for disability support workers, community care workers and aged care workers. The emphasis is on safe manual handling techniques and why it is paramount in the healthcare industry. Safe manual handling is critical for optimum health for both clients and workers. The handling of people continues to be a serious WHS concern in healthcare such as in disability services. Examples of manual handling tasks are assisting a client in transferring from a bed to a wheelchair or from a car to a wheelchair. Manual handling incorporates activities like laundry, painting, landscaping, vacuuming, writing, and computing, hence, support workers are at potential risk of physical injuries.

Participants in this course will have an opportunity to practice their skills during the training session, and will be encouraged to ask questions. A certificate of attendance will be issued to all participants upon successful completion of the training.
